Dr. Valerie Sims
Supervisor of Women

Born in Stockton, California, Dr. Valerie E. D. Sims lives in Stockton, California. She was a devoted and loving wife to Elder Billy Sims for 48 years until his demise on September 1, 2024. She is a mother, grandmother and godmother, and college graduate of the following degrees: AA in Fashion Design, BA in Psychology, Masters in Clinical Counseling/Pastoral Counseling,
Masters of Divinity with a major in Religious Counseling, Master’s in Philosophy with an emphasis in Psychology (2020), Doctorate of Divinity with a major in Theology, and holds several Teaching Credentials. She completed her second Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Walden University in 2024. Additionally, in 2020 she was selected by Trademark Women of Distinction Honors addition for demonstrating dedication, leadership and professional excellence.

She is the daughter of the late Superintendent Willie Lee Easter, who was her former pastor of the New Hope Church of God in Christ in Stockton; her Mother Elnora Easter demised in October 31, 2014.

 

Dr. Sims attends Glad Tidings COGIC in Hayward California, under Bishop J.W. Macklin Pastor and Jurisdictional prelate. In 2009 -2011 she was under the leadership of Pastor Thurnell Clayton Jr. serving as the Praise and Worship Leader, New Member’s class teacher and Alter minister leader. In 2011 she served as a Supervisor Designee for Bishop Magathen of California Evangel Jurisdiction until his demise in 2012. In 2013 Dr. Sims was appointed as supervisor of Women for Belize Central America Jurisdiction and in 2024 she was appointed as the supervisor of Kenya Third Impact Jurisdiction. Dr. Sims serves on the International Women’s Department Educational board. She is a national licensed Evangelist Missionary with the Church of God in Christ Inc., and was appointed in 1998 under Bishop C. D. Owens and Mother Willie May Rivers. She was raised in the COGIC from a child to her adult life and has served in leadership positions in the church. She is the Director for the Special Needs & Deaf Ministry for the Church of God in Christ Inc. Dr. Sims has traveled and ministered throughout the United States, including several foreign countries; France, Hatti, Central America and Africa conducting revivals and workshops. Once a week she volunteers in Tracy, California conducting bible study with senior retired adults, teaching them the word of God.

 

Dr. Sims is the founder of V.B.R. Foundation Inc. a foster care Agency and Counseling program for families and children. The corporate office is located in Tracy, CA and the sub office is in Elk Grove. She has been selected as an honored member of the heritage registry of Who’s Who in America 2008-2009 Edition. In 2009 to 2012 she served as a commissioner for San Joaquin County children and family services, and a member of the Mayor Community youth service network for the city of Tracy California. Dr. Sims spoke at the 60th Women’s International Convention/Crusade as a presenter topic speaker, in the City of Los Angeles California on June 2nd 2010. She spoke during the General Leadership Conference Session on the Religiosity and Spirituality of foster youth that have emancipated out of the Foster Care System which is her dissertation topic, and she plans to continue the study during her post doctorate degree. Additionally, in November 2013, Dr. Sims received a certificate of recognition from Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake of the COGIC, honoring her for 30 plus years of service as the Director of Deaf and special Needs Ministry. In 2013 Dr. Sims received a certificate of recognition from San Joaquin Board of Supervisor, Bob Elliott, for 30 years of outstanding community service. On April 8th 2019 she presented a presentation on Evangelism and Deaf Culture for the National Evangelist Department for the Church of God in Christ at Mansion Temple. For several years she has conducted workshops during the National Leadership conference as well as during the Holy Convocation under the Charles Harrison Mason Bible Institute.

 

She is versatile in her ministry. Not only is she gifted in Sign Language, but also, she is ananointed woman of God, that can expound on the gospel of Jesus Christ, also with praise andworship. Most importantly, Dr. Sims loves the Lord and she is saved, sanctified, and Holy Ghost filled, a soldier in God’s Army, working to spread the good news of Christ. Her presence promises to be an enriching and edifying experience in women’s ministry. Be infused with her rich wisdom and anointing power from God.
